Rent 40ft Storage Containers Nationwide
How Much Does it Cost to Rent a 40ft Shipping Container
Rental container prices are typically based on your location, your proximity to a container depot, and availability at the time of your rental. At Western Container, we are committed to providing high-quality storage containers without long-term contracts or hidden fees.
To see the rental cost of a storage container in your area, start here. Just enter your zip code, and our platform will handle the rest. The price of your rental container, including delivery fees, will be automatically calculated so you know exactly what to expect.
Our rentals have a minimum term of 3 months, after which you can continue on a month-to-month basis, making this an ideal temporary storage solution. Please ensure you give us 10 days’ notice when you want to cancel your storage container rental so we have time to arrange container pick-up.
How to Get Started
How to Rent a 40’ Storage Container
Renting a shipping container from Western Container Sales is simple and convenient thanks to our online booking system. We provide a smooth experience, enabling you to book and receive your rental container within 2 to 5 business days.
Things to Consider Before Renting a 40ft Storage Container
There are a few factors to consider before choosing a rental container for your storage needs.
Space is Needed in Order to Deliver Your Rental Container
To ensure the smooth delivery of your rental container, sufficient space is required. Please make sure your site can accommodate a 120-foot truck, along with extra room for maneuvering and offloading the 40-foot container.
Our Trucks Need a Firm Surface
The trucks delivering our 40-foot containers can weigh up to 45,000 pounds, so they require a firm surface to drive on. If the container will be placed on dirt or grass, please ensure the ground is strong enough to support the truck.
Plan on 2–5 Business Days for Delivery
We will coordinate with CDL certified haulers to arrange delivery within 2 to 5 business days. This process takes one business day to set up, so please await our confirmation email to learn the exact delivery date of your 40ft rental storage container.
Used Containers are “Next Off Stack”
Our 40-foot rental storage containers are “next off stack,” which means color selection is not an option. For a visual reference of our 40-foot rental containers, please visit our sample photos page.

How do Western’s Rental Storage Containers Compare to PODS?
PODS (Portable On Demand Storage) is a well-known provider of portable storage solutions nationwide. While both PODS and Western Container Sales offer portable storage rentals across the country, we differ in several significant ways.
PODS containers are typically smaller and lighter, made from a combination of steel, fiberglass, aluminum and plastic, designed for mobility even when fully loaded. In contrast, our rentals are repurposed shipping containers, characterized by solid all-steel construction with wooden floors supported by steel cross members. Steel shipping containers generally offer a larger and more robust option compared to standard PODS containers.
